In-person sessions

Each session is 3 hours long and held on Friday, October 17th near Medford, Oregon.

  • This in-person 3-hour session focuses on:

    • Understanding the physiology of human lactation and supporting infant Feeding.

    • The role and scope of Doula in Infant Feeding.

    • Indicators for referral to Lactation/Feeding specialist

    Session is scheduled for Friday, October 17th at 9:00 AM in Medford/Central Point

  • This 3-hour in-person course prepares doulas to support families through planned and/or unexpected outcomes resulting in loss.

    • Understanding resources available in the area for these scenarios.

    • Understanding physiology of Postpartum and Lactation after perinatal loss.

    • Understanding socio economic impact of pregnancy and infant loss on bereaved families.

    Session is scheduled for Friday, October 17t at 12:30 PM in Medford/Central Point

  • This 3-hour session covers:

    • Understanding the physiological effects of various comfort measures in labor including a variety of branded and alternative modalities for non-pharmaceutical pain management

    • Exploring Tools for Labor Support

    • Physical Support

    • Emotional Support

    Session is held on Friday, October 17th at 3:30 PM in Medford/Central Point


Live -Virtual Sessions

Each virtual session is three (3) hours long held on either Monday or Tuesday from 5:30-8:30 PM.

  • Monday, Oct. 27th

    • Anthropology of Childbirth

    • Birth Practices around the World

    • Review of U.S. Maternal and Infant Mortality data

  • Tuesday, Oct. 28th

    In this session we’ll discuss:

    • The types of biases people carry;

    • Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) and how they affect birthing people an doulas

    • Integrating a safe, community practices

  • This session covers:

    • Overview of the history of racism in healthcare in the U.S., and

    • The legacy of eugenics

  • In this session will review establishing a relationship with clients while setting and maintaining healthy boundaries.

  • In this session we will cover:

    • Protective business measures; contracts, insurance, etc.

    • HIPAA Compliance and Private Health Information (PHI)

    • Setting up your client systems; forms, record keeping

    • Contracting with Insurance

    • Filling out Claim forms (CMS 1500/HCFA)

    • Submissions and denials
